More than 1,900 schools received tools to help celebrate National School Breakfast Week.

MINNEAPOLIS (March 10, 2020)—Sunnyside Unified School District in Tucson, Ariz. is the Grand Prize Winner in the National School Breakfast Week Breakfast & Beyond Instant Win Game & Sweepstakes from General Mills Foodservice. Representatives from General Mills visited the school on Monday, March 2, at the onset of National School Breakfast Week (NSBW), to present a mobile cart and $15,000 the school can use to make improvements to its cafeteria or other changes that will help feed more students.

General Mills Foodservice conducted the sweepstakes to help schools drive participation in  school breakfast programs during National School Breakfast Week, a weeklong celebration where schools nationwide feature special menu items and fun activities. Beyond the Grand Prize winner, more than 1,900 schools received fun materials such as posters, free products, an astronaut photo stand-in, hats and more to help celebrate NSBW with their students.

“We believe in the benefits of the school breakfast program and are proud to support efforts that ensure every student has access to a nutritious breakfast at their start of their school day,” said Rick Fellers, K-12 senior marketing manager at General Mills Convenience & Foodservice. “We are honored to collaborate on this great week and will continue to support K-12 school districts in our overall mission to ensure every student is well fed and ready to learn.”

"We are so excited to be the grand prize winner,” said John Oakley, Sunnyside Unified’s Food Service Director. “We plan to use the monies to upgrade kitchen equipment and to purchase new tables in an effort to improve both the efficiency and presentation of our growing breakfast program."
